Our Editors - author services

All of our editors are native speakers of English and have university degrees in the subject area they are editing. We test and assess all editors to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to expertly edit, proofread and thoroughly check work at all levels within their subject area. Each manuscript, article or thesis submitted to us is assigned to an editor specifically selected for their expertise in the subject area. The editor will check the text and make suggestions on how to improve grammar, spelling, syntax, coherence, clarity and readability. There is also an option to request advice on styling your article or paper to suit the journal you’re interested in submitting to, contact us for details of pricing.

Here are the profiles of some of our editors:

Editor 1
Specialist subjects: Earth science; Environmental science; Geochemistry; Materials science.
Experience: Masters degree in Earth Sciences; worked for 17 years as a freelance copy-editor and proofreader on a variety of journals including 'Brain Research', 'Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy', 'Nucleic Acids Research', 'Science of the Total Environment' and 'Plastics, Rubber and Composites'.

Editor 2
Specialist subjects: Mechanical engineering.
Experience: Bachelors degree; more than 20 years’ experience as a desk editor, production manager and managing editor of mechanical engineering books and journals; worked as an editorial manager for a number of years on government publications.

Editor 3
Specialist subjects: Rheumatic diseases; Heart; Gastroenterology.
Experience: Masters degree from Oxford University; worked for 20 years for the British Medical Association as managing editor and technical editor of a number of specialist journals including ‘Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases’, ‘Heart’, ‘Gut’, ‘Sexually Transmitted Infections’, ‘Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry’ and ‘British Journal of Ophthalmology’.

Editor 4
Specialist subjects: Biological sciences.
Experience: First class BSc (Hons) in Biological Science; a number of years experience as a senior production editor for Wiley-Blackwell, working on a number of high profile journals; previously worked on journals such as ‘British Journal of Dermatology’, ‘Anaesthesia’, ‘International Journal of Experimental Pathology’ and ‘Journal of Evolutionary Biology’.

Editor 5
Specialist subjects: Language Studies and Chemistry.
Experience: I gained 11 years’ experience as a senior production editor for a publishing company, producing journals, journal supplements and multi- and single-volume books. I was also a production editor for several Blackwell Publishing journals including the Information Systems Journal and Grass and Forage Science. As a freelance editor I have undertaken copy-editing and proofreading on a range of publications for a number of years and my clients have included Taylor & Francis, Hodder Arnold, Blackwell Science, Wiley, Elsevier and Horizon Press. My current clients include the BMJ Group, the British Institute of Radiology, Hodder Arnold, The Royal Society, Taylor & Francis, Wiley-Blackwell and Oxford University Press.

Editor 6
Specialist subject: Biology.
Experience: I have a number of years’ experience as a proofreader and editor and have worked on journals covering topics including environmental science, etc. I have also edited publications by the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Water and National Center for Environmental Assessment.

Editor 7
Specialist subject: Mechanical engineering
Experience: I worked as a desk editor and managing editor for mechanical engineering and engineering publications companies (including for the Institution of Mechanical Engineers) for more than 20 years. I was responsible for journals, books and other publications during that time. I also have a number of years’ experience as a freelance proofreader and editor, covering engineering topics, and have also edited manuscripts written by non-native English speaking authors.

Editor 8
Specialist subject: Physics
Experience: More than 30 years’ experience as a freelance editor working on books, illustrated books, journals and multi-author books on subjects such as materials science, physics, sciences, chemistry, earth sciences, the environment and more. Clients have included The Royal Society, Cambridge University Press and Wiley.

Editor 9
Specialist subjects: Pure Science and Geoscience.
Experience: More than 20 years’ experience in industry including 16 years as a freelance copy editor of electronic, scientific and academic manuscripts covering topics such as biochemistry, chemistry, engineering, agricultural, environmental and earth and materials science and biotechnology. Clients have included Elsevier, Oxford University Press and more.

If you have a paper you’d like to submit for review by one of our editors, first you need to register with us. Registration is free, and only takes a couple of minutes. Once you have your log in details, you can upload your papers online and submit them to us. We’ll allocate your paper to an editor with expertise in your subject area.
